Verifiable credential
An identity claim an external party can check cryptographically without calling the issuer back to confirm it. Distinct from an authenticated session, which proves who is connected right now but says nothing that survives past the session.
What good looks like
A credential a counterparty can verify offline, with a revocation path that actually propagates when circumstances change.
